At the initial submission stage, your manuscript must be:
A serious work of academic philosophy within the journal's scope.
A PDF file. Supplementary material as appropriate.
Fully anonymized. The manuscript and the supplementary material must not reveal the author's identity. Remove names, affiliations, acknowledgments, funding information, and any identifying institutional details. Refer to your own prior work in the third person, or neutrally, so that self-citation does not disclose authorship. Remove identifying information from the PDF's file metadata as well.
Original and unpublished. No part of the manuscript may have been previously published. Posting to a preprint server or personal repository does not by itself count as publication, but you should ensure that any such posting does not compromise anonymity during review.
Not under review elsewhere. Manuscripts submitted to JMP must not be under consideration at any other journal at the same time.
Length. There is no fixed word limit, but submissions should be no longer than the argument requires. Unusually long manuscripts may take longer to review. Unusually short manuscripts must make a substantial point.
Language. Manuscripts are accepted in English.
Number of submissions. Authors are ordinarily limited to one submission under review at a time. We ask authors not to submit a new manuscript while another is still under consideration.
Open formatting at initial submission. We do not impose a house style for submissions.
Accepted manuscripts
Once a manuscript is accepted, authors prepare the final version using the journal's LaTeX template, which is mandatory. At this stage you will need to:
Typeset the full manuscript using the official JMP LaTeX template.
Restore all information removed for anonymization.
Supply a final abstract and keywords.
Ensure all references are complete and correctly formatted, and that all internal cross-references, equation numbers, and citations resolve correctly.
Confirm your choice of Creative Commons license and complete the author agreement.
Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the final typeset manuscript. The editorial and production team will carry out a final check before publication, but substantive correctness of the LaTeX source and the content rests with the authors.
Once production is complete, the article is published immediately and assigned a DOI.
